Rust Through the Bottom
Corrosion along the bottom section where water sits.
Rot, Warping or Splitting
Wood doors that no longer close square.
Parts No Longer Made
Matching sections or hardware are discontinued.

An uninsulated door next to living space.
It Drags Down the House
Faded, dated or mismatched to a renovation.
Repair or replace?
How We Think It Through
We’ll give you both prices when both make sense.
-
Repair Usually Makes Sense When
- The problem is a spring, cable, roller, hinge or opener
- One section is damaged and a match is available
- The door is solid, square and suits the house
- You’re happy with its insulation and appearance
-
Replacement Usually Makes Sense When
- Several sections are damaged or rusting
- Repairs are recurring or parts are unavailable
- You want insulation, quieter operation or windows
- You’re updating the look of the house

Choosing a new door
Design, Durability and Insulation
- Design. Carriage-house doors on farmhouse and craftsman homes, raised panels on traditional brick, flush or full-view doors on contemporary designs.
- Durability. Heavier-gauge steel and bonded polyurethane insulation resist dents better than thin single-skin doors.
- Insulation. For an attached garage, an insulated door helps keep heat out of adjoining rooms and reduces street noise.

Replacement Questions
Quick answers to common questions. Don’t see yours? Call (615) 500-0326.
How do I know it’s time to replace my garage door?
Common reasons are multiple damaged sections, rust through the bottom of a steel door, rot or warping in a wood door, replacement parts that are no longer made, or a door that makes the garage too hot, cold or noisy. If repairs are adding up, it’s worth comparing the cost against a new door.
Can you replace just one damaged panel instead?
Sometimes. If the manufacturer still makes a matching section for your door, replacing one section can be the better value. We check this first. See panel replacement.
Do you replace the springs and track too?
Yes. A replacement normally includes new springs sized for the new door, along with new track and hardware where needed. Reusing old springs on a new door with a different weight doesn’t work.
What happens to my old garage door?
We remove it and haul it away, along with the old springs, track and hardware.
Can I keep my current opener?
Often, yes. If your opener is in good working order and suits the weight of the new door, we reconnect and adjust it. If it’s older or undersized, we’ll recommend a replacement.
